Oakland election results: Mayor, District attorney recalled

The recalls of Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao and Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price appear to be successful. Over 60% of voters favor the recalls. .

Each official has only been in office since the November 2022 election.

So far, less than a quarter of ballots have been counted for all registered voters in Alameda County. As county registrars office updates election results, we’ll provide updates.

Here’s where other Oakland election contests stand.

City Council

With five seats up for election, and three incumbents not running for reelection, the Oakland City Council is poised for a shift. With rank choice voting and ballots still uncounted, here’s where results stand now:

  • At-Large: Rowena Brown, a state legislative staff, is ahead of former Oakland Police Chief Leronne L. Armstrong by 239 votes.
  • District 1: Zac Unger leads Len Raphael with 75% of votes cast.
  • District 3: So far, Councilwoman Carroll Fife is ahead of Warren Logan, 3,098 (44.13%) to 2,101 (29.93%). There were six candidates in all.
  • District 5: Councilman Noel Gallo leads with 56.82% of the vote, followed by Erin Armstrong (27.80%) and Dominic Prado (15.38%).
  • District 7: Currently, Ken Houston leads with 33.34%, followed by Iris Merriouns (28.01%), Marcie Hodge (19.70%), and Merika Goolsby (896%).

City Attorney

Ryan Richardson currently leads Brenda Harbin-Forte 25,717 (55.44%) to 20,685 (44.58%).

Oakland Unified School District

Oakland public schools’ board is elected with rank choice voting. Here’s where the candidates currently stand:

  • District 1: Rachel Latta leads Benjamin Salop with 77% of the vote.
  • District 3: Vancedric Williams is currently ahead by just four votes against Dwayne Aikens Jr.: 3,389 to 3,385.
  • District 5: Patrice Berry leads Sasha Ritzie-Hernandez with 54.88% of ballots cast.
  • District 7: Clifford Thompson leads Dominic Ware with 61.31% of the vote.

Oakland ballot measures

There were three measures on the ballot: NN, OO, and MM.

  • Measure NN: The violence prevention measure is currently leading with 70% of reported ballots cast.
  • Measure OO: This measure to strengthen the city’s Public Ethics Commission leads with 70.64% of ballots counted.
  • Measure MM: This measure would fund vegetation management by taxing property owners in an “Oakland Wildfire Prevention Zone.” Among those voting, 70% have approved, so far.

County Supervisor – District 5

The race to succeed Alameda County Supervisor Keith Carson is a runoff between Oakland City Councilmember Nikki Fortunato Bas and Emeryville Councilmember John Bauters.

Bauters currently leads 26,005 (53.42%) to 22,676 (46.58%). District 5 includes parts of West and North Oakland, and the cities of Albany, Emeryville, and Berkeley.
