Oakland Voices and the Maynard Institute co-sponsored the fourth annual Bay Area Journalist Meet Up, held on Dec. 3 at the Prescott Market in West Oakland.
Former Oakland Voices co-director Momo Chang and KQED Community Engagement Reporter Pendarvis Harshaw started the event in 2022 to provide an informal, in-person gathering space for and by local journalists.
Activities included a networking tables and a getting to know you Bingo game, won by writer, director, and professor Kristina Thomas.
Oakland Voices awarded prizes to attendees who played “That’s my Wordy,” a daily Oakland-themed puzzle.
Oakland Voices hired photographer Dante D. Jones to photograph the event.

Is harmony and unity possible in East Oakland? The Laurel Merchant and Laurel District Association strive to prove that it does. The second annual Laurel Holiday Stroll and Donation Drive is just one of over 20 events held in the Laurel District geared towards strengthening relationships between the community and local business.
