Over 5,490 unhoused people live in Oakland, according to The Oaklandside. I am concerned about this high number of unhoused people in my city and what we are, or aren’t, doing about it.

This situation has a deep impact on me because almost every day I see unhoused citizens asking for food or money. Just to think that people don’t have a place to live makes me sad for my community.

I’m here to remind you that we don’t have to just watch it happen. Something I think we could do as a community is volunteer at homeless shelters or donate money for food, clothes, and other necessary resources to organizations that help Oakland citizens in need.

Take action so that we can see a better tomorrow where people are better taken care of, even if they live on the streets.
