[slideshow_deploy id=’8676′]We asked the new Oakland Voices correspondents to write about a family member and resilience. They came back with inspiring stories about siblings raised in foster care, a teen mom who refused to give her baby boy up for adoption, a young mother in Mexico who set off on a 1,500 mile journey to rejoin her husband, a mother who made sure her son never forgot he had an obligation to make something of his life, a sister with severe childhood epilepsy who never gave up, a father who worked himself to exhaustion so his children could get an education and live a better life. And much more. Read their stories below. And meet the 2015 Oakland Voices correspondents.
